What if the timing chain lost teeth didnt break completely

If the engine still runs noise, rattling, rough misfiring NO power etc. Chains don't break for less likely than a BELT, but they do get loose (altering timing of engine components) and will stop or destroy an engine, If allowed to wear to beyond there limit. Regards
