transmission fluid is getting into the cylinders what would cause that

The only path for ATF to get into the engine would be both a leaking radiator and a leaking head gasket. Are you sure ATF is in the cylinders?

it is dark red and it smells like transmission fluid. the radiator and oil are fine. could it be a vacuum leak from the transmission

Your transmission is electronically controlled. I don't think there is a vacuum connection. Check your engine coolant to see if it is contaminated with ATF.

Did someone accidentally put ATF in the engine?

no. it started 2 days ago. it will downshift on it's own and when it does it smokes really bad for a couple of minute then clear up and it will do it again.. just put new plugs in it yesterday and that is when i noticed the transmission fluid in the cylinders

the coolant is green and i don't see anything in the radiator and the oil is clean

Have a mechanic check it out. Maybe it is ATF but I doubt it.
