battery not charging while driving

Asked by HollyJaneB1 Feb 20, 2020 at 12:23 AM about the 2007 INFINITI G35

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, the car sat 4 months dead battery wouldn't hold a charge but autozone now tells me that the new battery is only being charged at 13% They seem to take this as an indication that its some problem with the car's charging system. I assume they meant alternator. any alternate theories or insight from others who've encountered this? could it just be that the car need to "warm up" from its hibernation? .

Bad alternator or voltage regulator. I'm sure on your car the PCM controls the alternator/voltage regulator, but it would be rare for the problem to be with the PCM. I'd replace the alternator.
