Brakes

Asked by jellybean019 Nov 09, 2010 at 07:47 PM about the 1986 Volkswagen Cabriolet

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When the car is off and you press on the breaks, they are firm. When i start the car, the brake goes to the floor.
Is it a vacuum problem? Where?

If it goes all the way to the floor you have a problem but if you still have more to go and full brake strength while driving then thats normal. Thats what comes with power brakes. When the engine is off there is no vacuum assist so the pedal is harder.
