what would cause the push rod in the fuel pump to bend??????? thanks

had a new fuel pump put in and if was fine for a while and them yesterday it would not start i check the
fuel line all the way to the pump and had gas so i pulled the pump and i could not remove the push rod
easily. when i did get it out it was bent any help as to why??? thanks,

I would say that the pump seizesing is the most likely cause or the push rod itself, with the pump and pushrod removed, remove the spark plugs and check that the engine can be turned by hand freely, check for the presence of oil around the pushrod hole and finally gently rest a cross head screwdriver in the pushrod hole and slowly turn the engine by hand, the screwdriver should rise and fall ( only a small amount of movement will be noticed - 10 to 20mm ) . I f this is the case then the fault is probably due to a seized pump either the lever arm failure or a valve failure causing the pump to hydraulicly lock.
