Value of a 72 beetle

Looking at a post on CL for a pretty good condition beetle, speedometer is broken apparently.  He's asking $2100 for it, which seems pretty high to me.  What would you say is reasonable?

depends on location, amount of rust, and overall condition of car. also, what you plan on doing with the car. if it's solid (no rust), runs, drives, and everything is there and functional, it should be worth it.

NEW BEARINGS; BUSHINGS; BRAKE SYSTEM ;CLUTCH-PRESHER PLATE; WINDSHIELD; STRUTS; SHOCKS; 009 DISTRIBUTOR; IMPKE SHIFTER; HOOD RELEASE CABLE; THROTTLE CABLE; EMERGENCY BREAK CABLE; BRUSHED ALUMINUM WHEELS 4LUG AND TIRES 205 SERIES. REPLACED GENERATER WITH ALTERNATER; NEW WINDSHIELD AND RUBBER FOR FRONT AND BACK (CALIFORNIA STYLE AND SCRAPERS FOR DOOR GLASS. PAINT GOOD; BODY GOOD; NO RUST AND GOOD FLOOR PANS.SOLD FOR $3,000. IN 2003...DUMB MOVE
