What are a couple of good things to do everyday with a old bug just to make sure it stays ship shape ?

Tune-up, change the air filter, change the fuel filter, Oil change. Change the belts. Make sure your tires are at the correct air pressure. Wash and wax the bus often.

If you drive in salty roads due to winter or salty area around the pan handle, spray it off and under side after driving. Use on door hinges, cables, linkage, parts that move against each other, latches, to knock off the moisture and prevent rust and lubricate like 6-56 Multi-Purpose Marine Lubricant. Watch for tire wear problems, Check brake components, use a sun barrier shade, park in a garage or carport. Clean & wax & polish it.
