I need help determining how to install a right side mirror on my 1970 beetle sedan; which never had one. Before I drill a hole into the door wanted to ask if it could be done with success..holding the nut inplace from the inside of the door. Any suggestions: billandpeggycomo@windstream.net..

My suggestion would be to take a look at how the drivers side mirror is mounted and attempt to duplicate the manufacturers assembly. If VW was able to do it, you should have no problems. Once you figure their method, order the parts that hold the DS mirror on, and use them to mount the PS mirror. Sharp ride, btw!

I remember seeing one that substituted the hinge pin---let me do a little custom shop shopping for ya~ gimme a sec.

The problem is you can't get a tool or fingers inside the door area to hold the nut in place while the mirror is screwed in to it. On the drivers side VW welded it in place during manufacturing process. Any help would be appreciated. Bill

nutserts (not a breathmint) put a kind of threaded pop-rivet~...could be used~ if you do not want to put a little glue on the flange nut on the inside~
