I just replaced the upper/lower ball joints. I checked the manual and it reads @ the camber and the caster+/- 20 degrees , 30', what does this mean?

Now the tires are straight, up and down, instead of being in an angle, with the top being out and the bottom being in . My question being this, what do I adjust, the steering knuckle and the torsion bar or is it something totally different.

Dear nuowner1970vw-- When you replaced the ball joints on your 1970 Volkswagen Beetle (I had a brand new orange one back then) you must follow that up with an alignment. The alignment will restore the various suspension angles to settings recommended by the manufacturer. It is usually a simple procedure that involves some sophisticated equipment that the average do-it-yourselfer has no access to. I would recommend taking it to a professional. 1998 beetle. Went for oil change. As soon as they completed it my check engine light came on. They checked code, was some emmissions code. Okay so the light goes out 2 days later. A few days later the car wont start, like it is out of gas, it's turning but not catching. I let it sit for 1/2 hr then it starts and the engine light back on. Everything fine for a few days then the same thing happens out of the blue. Just happened again to me. Car was fine, no light on then i go somewhere, park it, get back in and it wont start like its out of gas...let it sit for half hour and then it starts like nothing was wrong and the engine light back on now.
