Where are the chassis ID Numbers for Beetles 1968 & up?

I have a 1957 Beetle that someone put on a later model chassis with 4-lug wheels. I am trying to ID the year for the chassis, but cannot find the ID number. It is not on the tunnel beneath the rear seat.

HI i have an beach buggy dont nou the model but i have the papers of the buggy i am struggling to get the chassis /vin number on the chassis . Althoughc i have it on the paper so my probleme is i what to regester it to drive on the road but they cant help met at the police station to get it back on to the road due to no number on chassis . What can i do to get it back on the road
I have a 68 Bug and had the same proble, Oregon DMV sent me to the state police,the officer that helped me asked me to remove the back seat and stamped on middle of the floor was the Vin# look closely it’s there Jack
