Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle but the tires are shot. What size tires should I look for to go on this car, does any one know where I could find decent used tires?? It is just stock. Also, someone told us that some Chevy tires will fit this car. Does anyone know if thats true??

ok. the stock tire size was 165sr/15. you can get these at just about any tire shop but they most likely will have to order them. as for "chevy tires", i didn't know chevy MADE tires! lol anyway, the stock tire was around 25.5 inches tall with a tread width of around 5 inches. it really depended on which rims they were mounted on. SO you can go to a tire shop and ask them and they could tell you what you need OR you could go to sites on the net like tirerack.com, discounttire.com, and such and look for yourself. ive seen 175/75/15, 185/75, 185/65, 195/75, 195/65, 205/65, and so on on stock height bugs. if the car is lowered there is a bunch more!
