Fuel gauge connections 87 to 99 Jeep conversion

Asked by Apr 01, 2018 at 04:09 PM about the 1987 Jeep Wrangler

Question type: Car Customization

My son bought an 87 Jeep YJ that has a conversion to a 99 Cherokee drive
train. The fuel gauge is nonfunctional because one end is a 2 prong and one
end is a 3 hole receptacle (or visa versa). Is there an adapter or way to get the
old fuel tank to talk to the new engine and tell the old fuel gauge how much gas
is in the tank?
