Jeep Commander Display says Transmission Temp Over

Asked by mike2007commander Jun 22, 2013 at 09:14 PM about the 2007 Jeep Commander

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Does not start.  Leave for hours, generally will re-start then function well for 1-2 months then same crap again.

I see lots of folks with same problem but no one has written about a solution or service re-call or service bulliten from Jeep Corporation.

Anybody HELP PELASE ?????

possibly those rubber vibration hoses to the radiator delaminating and creating an obstruction for the flow...probably would just replace those rubber things and check the flow (if you've the technology to do so...at the shop we had basically a bicycle pump that we could suck fluids out with a sealing rubber tip...not that this technology is readily available to you....a pressure blast? find out if there is an obstruction or kink in the lines or radiator~ sorry for this...it's got you on your knees...no one wants to be there~

Everyone and anyone who is having issues with their Jeep NEEDS to file a complaint with the NHTSA! This is the only way this issue is going to be resolved. We can cry all we want on these forms, but with enough complaints a recall will be issued! I know it sucks because I have all these issues, but PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT! http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchResults

I am currently in the process of trying to resolve this "start-up/transmission over temp" issue. I have replaced the throttle body, the crank shaft sensor and another sensor and the problem still exists. My mechanic is seeking info from the dealership. Nothing comes up on their equipment but they have experienced the problem with my vehicle. What seems to be common is that after waiting a few minutes (up to 20 mins) it will start with no problem. In my case when this problem happens, each time it tries to start, rumbles, I turn key off and for a second or two the "transmission over temp" message displays. If I get a solution, I will certainly post it.

Hello everybody what the problem is is nothing stated above you need to go to the dealer there is a software recall there's actually two of them if your vehicle is not starting or clicking and you have to turn the key a whole bunch of times to get it to start and if you get the little temperature light on and if you go to use your four-wheel drive low and you get another error these are all software issues and they are recalls so free of charge at first it might not start up give it a day everything goes back to normal

My car started this about a month ago. Stopped to put air in tires. Went to turn on and it won’t start. Transmission over temp error. I had driven less than a mile in cool temps so I knew this was not likely right. Thought it could be battery in key fob. Changed in and no problems for last month. Now it happened today. Drove literally around the corner and now won’t start. When I look on Carfax no recalls are listed as open. Is the software update included on something like that? Thanks

Transmission Overtemp or Overheat Warning goes on and activates the transmission fan sporadically and always resolves when restarted. This happens intermittently and I was told that it is not a transmission problem but the computer/sensor which needs to be addressed. Have not done this yet due to other expenses but wonder if others have found a solution.
