I have a 2007 Dodge charger keeps overheating to the point I cut it off and it will not restart until 45 mins or until it cools off.. Sounds like it wants to crank up but won't... On my dash I have a lighting bolt symbol check engine and oil displayed. Autozone diagnosed and said it was a ignition coil and spark plugs... Spark plugs has been changed and 1 ignition coil and bout to change thermostat and oil.. Should that solve my issue?

Its best to do so since the light is on. Plus check your electrical connections around the engine compartment, may not hurt to test the temp sender sensor & temp sensor & oil pressure sending unit sensor, crank & cam sensors. Check your electrical fans are working. May be a good time to flush the radiator. Have the store reset the computer and if light continues to come on, will have to do some more testing.

What was the codes? And there can be a lot of issues with a overheating condition. A tune-up so to speak does not solve the overheating issue, but a new thermostat may, that is as long as the head gasket is good, and no cracked head. You also need to make sure the fans are working , and determine that the radiator is clear, not plugged up.
