i bought a 5.9 at a salvage yard and found out it has compression on only one
cylinder what can i do
Uhhh, take it back.
It's jumped timing. Hopefully they take returns. Or if it's not an interference engine you can replace the timing chain and sprockets. You'll have to set the valve timing as part of the repair. With the engine out of the vehicle it shouldn't be too difficult of a job. But before putting any money in it find out if it's an interference engine. On the other hand if this motor has been sitting for many years the valves could be stuck open. That'll mean a top end (at least) rebuild and not worth it. Remove the timing chain cover first and see what's going on. HTH. -Jim
