Can you manually bring the soft-top back up? If not, what electronic parts are needed to fix?

Asked by JTrig Apr 17, 2013 at 12:08 PM about the 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The soft-top was put down normally by-way of switch, but now it it won't go up.
Mechanic says it needs new computer (electronic control unit) that burned-out.

Most convertibles can be manually operated. Check your owners manual and with other owners on a Mercedes forum.

I found this: "You will need the tool that is in the white plastic cover in your tool kit by your spare tire, it is a thin wrench that also has an allen key on the opposite end. The instructions on how to use it are printed on the white plastic tool pouch." --- http://mercedesforum.com/forum/mercedes-sl- class-15/94-sl500-soft-top-hydraulic-problems-23887/

My trunk can not be opened to access these things. The very back of the roof that edges the trunk is high about 2” and it won’t go up or down thus making the trunk inaccessable
