In the old days, radiators were made of copper. They were heavy and lasted for the life of the car. -- The new light weight radiators have aluminum tubes and plastic ends. They are not as durable. The tubes leak if they get hit with stones and the plastic ends get brittle with age and crack. Fortunately, the replacement radiators are less expensive than their predecessors.
