The transmission lamp started blinking in mid drive.

This was the only light coming on, car seemed to shift like normal. No Check Engine light came on.

dont ignor it,have it checked out,anytime a warning light comes on,something is going on,no matter how big or small problem is.

Yes, there are a number of issues that could be causing this. Could be transmission temperature, a sensor or solenoid, or an internal problem with the TCM. Have the codes (stored in the TCM) read to get an idea of what the problem is. A dealer will likely have to do this.

Hi, My S40's transmission light and check engine light started simultaneously blinking this afternoon, but unlike your situation, I could feel the difference in pick up/acceleration from a stop. Scared to drive it now that I drove it home safely. I'll have it towed to the mechanic. Do you have any new info on what's going on with your transmission?
