instrument cluster 1995 Cabrio

The speedometer on my 1995 VW Cabrio has stopped working (still very occasionally
works first thing in the morning). I'm told I need a new instrument cluster (the circuit
panel is bad). I'm having a very hard time finding that instrument panel. Is there another
year or VW model that I could be asking for that would work? If I don't replace the
instrument panel, is the speedometer the only problem or will something else start to
go?

a radio repair outfit could repair the printed circut that may have cracked and expands when warm and opens the line ,ask around for repairs

I Have a 95 Cabrio also and the speedometer does the same thing. My husband thought that the speedometer was broke, then he went to salvage yards and got other clusters. Thus, he replaced them, and they did the same thing so he then figured out that a new speed sensor in the transmission may be needed. That may be the problem you're having also. I hope it gets figured out.
