Tried to jump VW Cabrio Convertible and Alarm goes off - don't know what to do?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Went away for work (5 Months) came back and tried to turn on car - didn't
work. I tried to jump start but every time I connected the cables to my battery
the alarm goes off.

I've read about unlocking/locking from the driver or passenger side,
unfortunately on the driver side the lock fell apart and on the passenger side
looks like the lock disengaged from the door with the handle. So this isn't an
option.

A couple of years ago I left my lights on and my battery died. One of my
neighbors then was able to move something under the hood which stopped
the alarm and my car was able to get enough juice from the jump start. The car
beeped and my windows (power) were able to go down/up. I'm not sure what
he did. Anyone might have an idea?

I'm a little bit desperate to get my car moving again. I'm also planning on fixing
both doors so they can lock/unlock. I have the original VW key, car's too old
for a key fod.

Any insight/help would be much appreciated!
Thanks~
