My 1999 Volkswagon Jetta wont start

It started when I put my car in Reverse.  It jerked because the Parking brake was still on.  Then it stalled.  I haven't been able to start it since.  What can I do?

is it stanadard or automatic? if its standard the jerk you felt might a been the clutch plate breaking.
