To change the ECT is very easy follow the hose that it comes in the upper side of the radiator to the motor you will see three sensors clockwise is the first, the remove the electrical connection pull out the ā€œUā€ holder and pull the ECT out. Do this with the motor totally cool is very important. The thermostat will keep the water closed so you do not need to drain the radiator. Exchange the ECT approximated time. No more than 15 minutes.

Make sure the connections are the same.... Aftermarket parts designs will vary from OE manufacturers.....hell even thermostat designs vary by manufacturer. As long as the fitment and connection is the same as OE, the design of the sensor isn't important so long as it works properly and the cleared code does not come back.
