Can I replace my rear wheelarch with no trouble?

My rear left arch above wheel started
to bubble a few months ago and now
the lacka has started to peel away. I
have been quoted £300 to have it
repaired and resprayed, although I
am curious if it is possible to just fit a
new part. I have a relative breaking a
beetle so I can pick up the part fairly
easy. How easy is it to remove arch
and replace? Is it simple or a
hard/long job to do? Need help!!

If you want to replace the fender with a used part, I'd recommend that you attempt to find one in the same color, to remove the expense of painting. As for the removal, it's held with torx head bolts that are accessed beneath the plastic fender liner. There are attachments that hold the fender to the bumper cover too. It may actually be easiest to remove both fenders and rear bumper cover as an assembly and then switch the fender.
