No acceleration

Asked by Jenn1996 Sep 27, 2016 at 08:00 PM about the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

Question type: General

I have a 2002 vw jetta 2.0. I was driving it and
when I stopped I put it in.park and the motor rev.
Up like I was holding acceleration pedal down. I
turned off the car and started it again. Then when I
put it in drive it took off like I was holding pedal
down. Then it lost power EPC light came on and it
only allowed me to only go about 2 mph with the
pedal held down. I have changed the throttle body
and the acceleration pedal. When I cleared codes
the EPC light Is still on and it will not rev. Up in park
still. Can anyone help me??

I would have guessed shifting cable out of adjustment, but did mention other drive ability issues. Leading to bad transmission. Check trans fluid condition and level first then take it to a trans shop. Please click on "Mark helpful" if you're happy with the respond. Good luck :-)

Check for a blown ( ETCS ) Electronic Throttle Control Systems fuse. Check in fuse box under the hood.
