why no spark from coil

no spark coming from coil. have replaced coil and checked for power coming from center pin on coil plug and nothing

yes, power and ground on outer two pins on coil plug. nothing on center pin while cranking which is the signal from the crank sensor for the comp to ground the circuit and send spark so i believe. not so up on vw. my sisters car and in this day and age we all have to help one another. who can afford dealer repairs right... lol
