Transmission Problems?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 5spd car which does not have 1st gear. Will
start but shuts off when I put it into gear. What
could I need done to fix this?

Sounds like the engine is stalling when you try to take off in a higher gear. Clearly the transmission should be repaired.
