when you say latch you mean when you close the door it does not close the securing latch to keep the door closed? if this is the case open the door and test the latch by moving it up and down and using the handle to release it. If its stiff spray some wd40 in and work it in to the latch. When its loose again spray some white grease in there. Should help.
