2006 Nissan Murana AC went out while driving today. When I turn the AC on (it blows hot air) but there is little to no sound. When I turn the AC off and the car idles, a loud rumbling sound begins in the hood of the car. What could be the issue?

2006 Nissan Murano, AC went out while driving the car today and only hot air
came out. I noticed that while idling AND the AC is OFF, the car makes a very
loud rattling sound. If I turn the AC back on, it stops. But the AC still does not
work.

Maybe the compressor went out.

My 2005 murano sl awd its jerking it goes alright for 10mhp to 40mhp as long as you increase the speed slowly then as you get to 60mhp it drives good.
