Clunk/Thud Left Rear Near Tire When Going Over Bumps

Asked by Solitarieone Sep 03, 2014 at 11:51 AM about the 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just noticed fluid leak at that spot today. Cause? Cost to repair? Safe to drive until I get to repair shop? Otherwise, drives/brakes/steers fine.

Check your strut/shock back there. Look for oil on it. If there is replace both sides at the same time.

If it's what I think it is. Drive with care. No drifting contests. You should be fine. This isn't a hard job.

If it's what I think it is, shop around for a price. My buddy went to a major chain shop and they wanted $550.00 for the job. After shopping around he found someone to do it for almost half.

Yep, that was my next question -- I certainly don't want to pay more than I need! Thank you, BoholMark -- you've eased my mind.
