2005 Jag X-type - replaced catalytic - won't pass smog - cruise control light comes on - not available and then the check engine light comes on. Any suggestions

You would need to have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes to know what the problem is which causes the check engine light to come on. Any codes relating to emissions show up and your vehicle will not pass inspection. Once the problem has ben fixed, the codes would need to be cleared so they do not show up when re-testing. Also the vehicle would need to be driven 100 to 150 miles before your next emissions test after it has ben fixed. On a lot of vehicles, when the check engine light comes on, the cruse control will not work until the problem as be resolved.
