Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took it to the store and when I came out the
battery was dead. Charged it and the dash lights
come on But when I turn it over it only clicks one
time and I lose all power again. I was having
trouble starting it every once in awhile, it would
turn over just not start, about three attempts to
start and it would fire up. Now, just that one click
and I lose all power. Please help!

First clean and tighten the battery connections but your battery may not be holding a charge anymore. Also have the alternator tested.

That was a year ago. Things go bad so have them both tested but first take care of the battery connections.

Make sure terminal wire to starter is tight, and check the ground is tight for negative battery terminal and grounds to frame from engine block are good. Terminal wires if corroded may need replaced. If the battery is bad and you have the receipt it should of came with a replacement up to at least 2 years.

I have a similar problem. One click is all I get. The starter was under warranty so I replaced that. Replaced solenoid (starter relay some call it) Tried with properly functioning 1000 cold crank amps battery. Engine turnable manually No pulleys were frozen or stuck Full voltage (Above 12.7) getting to starter. And I still get only one click. Any help appreciated....Tks

I had a similar problem. To get the truck to start I ran my jumper cable (pos) from the pos terminal of the starter to the pos terminal of the battery. Truck started right up. Took the jumper off. Turn off engine. Turned the key, engine started right up. Hasn't been a problem since. Someone told me that the system needed to reset & by forcing it to start the system got reset. Don't know if that is true, but the truck is fine now.
