On a side note. Why are you replacing your ECM? Why do you think it is bad?

the truck is in the shop right now and that is what it needs. Thanks for your speedy reply. Do you know if I cant find the part would I be able to use another computer from the same type of truck? I found several model numbers that were similar i.e. f3tf-12a650-xy instead of f3tf-12a650-ac...Im wondering if 2 letters would make a real big difference

Without doing some serious research, I honestly cant answer that question. OBD1 was a very finicky platform, and to be honest the original computer was set up to work with your drive-train (engine and diagnostics, trans, and rear axle gear ratio). So the new computer (f3tf-12a650-xy) you found (which I cannot locate in the ford books) may allow the engine to run, but have other problem, then again, it may not allow the engine to run at all. I would inquire with your mechanic as to why they feel the ECM is bad. If it is the chip? or the whole ecm? are there any other possibilities? And also... 2nd opinions are not just for your doctor either.. f3tf-12a650-ac - is a valid ecm part number f3tf-12a650-xy - is NOT a valid part number

google Mustangs and More .com,you may find it their, they have a lightning form on their, you will have to regester to post what you need, but it is free.

I have a 94 Lightning and I was looking for the same part. The "XY" won't work. Our trucks need the "AC" or "AA" or "AB" (last 2 letters) version of the ECM/ECU. I found the part here: http://www.car-stuff.com/ I'd call to make sure they have it in stock. It didn't sound like they had many of them. They did not have the ECM/ECU manufactured by "Standard" but they had one manufactured by A1Cardone (which costs more). Good luck.

I just found out that www.car-stuff.com does not have the correct part even though their website says they do. I'm going to try to send my ECM to Cardone and hope they can rebuild it.
