Ford E-350 steering column-no cruise, no horn
Have 1993 Oshkosh chassis RV with Ford steering column. Horn fuse blows, cruise quit
working. Replaced clock spring (spiral cable) under steering wheel. No joy! Wiring looks
good, no obvious damage. Where is cruise "brain" located? Ideas?
I hope you are NOT GOING TO START to mess around with something that (at the very least) is beyond the realm of d.i.y.. My barber knows where a human brain is located ; but , I hope he won't attempt to do brain surgery on his next customer.
Ignore ol "Lugnuts" above. The one thing that all of these circuits have in common is the same power supply. All of these accessories work from the same fuse. Speed Control Servo/Amplifier Assembly : Left side of engine compartment, near brake master cylinder. Let us know what you find out.
@Tracy- the guy already knew where the fuse was - he already knew it blew!!!,,,,,He's trying to find out WHY IT BLEW?.....Your answer is silly.
Thany You Tracy..Ol Lugnut lost his wrench and didn't consider using his helpful knowledge...that's if he truly has/had any knopwledge...RJF
There is a flat ribbon reel under the air bag on the steering wheel. Your oshkosh may not have the air bag. The controls for horn, cruise, etc on steering wheel are connected to that flat ribbon wiring harness. It eventually breaks at the feed through connection in the same area. Brittle and flexing over time. If the hot end of the break twists enough when the break occurs, you will have blown fuses occur. It can happen with the turn signals also.
