Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This is the 3rd Ford with a V-8 I've owned with this problem.  Starts fine in the morning but through the rest of the day, it is very difficult to start, unless within 3 minutes of shut down.  I have replaced a distributer module?, cap, plugs, rotor, and spark plugs..... DID NOT REPLACE STARTER OR SOLENOID ...YET.   I am trying to avoid replacing those due to the cost.

How many miles on the van? Have you had the timing checked? It may need to have the belt / chain replaced. Yes the starter could also be the problem but not likely. I have owed Fords all my life and when its a hard start after operating its usually a timing problem.
