Dodge ram 1500. 1994
I change my thermostat and temperature reading
unit and now the tempetaure reads a lil bit over
the half way which is 200 which it never did
before. What can be the reason why the
temperature reads higher now?
Do you remember the temp rating on the thermostat you bought and installed. May have been higher rated thermostat.
It was the same that was in already. Which is 195f they told me that was factory tem
Sometimes new senders are slightly out of whack, if you have a scanner for this rig hook it up and see what the ECM is showing the engine temp is and compare the two, if they are the same then you may have a coolant flow problem through the radiator or a stubborn air pocket, if they don't then you either have a faulty sender or the gauge is out of calabration, some can be recalabrated others can't, you won't know that until you gain access to the gauge itself and see if there are little calabration adjusters inside the gauge, headache I know. Or you could opt for a set of aftermarket gauges and put them in a pod.
Ok thank u. How can i take airpoket out of the system?
Follow the air bleed procedure for your car/engine. May have this on a youtube video or a net page. There are some general steps you can take to increase the possibility of getting all air out and there is youtube videos on this too for sure I saw some a few months ago.
I've had good luck buy just getting the front of the vehicle up about a foot and follow the procedure for your engine. Did the thermostat you put in have a jiggle pin in it? If not you might consider replacing it with one or you could drill a 1/16 inch hole in it just an 1/8 of an inch from the thermostat valve and then install it with the hole towards the rear of the engine, this will help purging the air from the system.
Yes the thermosthat had the lil jiggle pin in it. I will lift the front and see wat happens thanks
Where would be the best place to place a thermal thermometer wit a laser to check my engine temp?
Just before the thermostat housing for total engine temp, you can also snoop out hot spots in the block and the radiator.
