hello i own a 1996 dodge ram 1500 super sport the
gen light came on while driveing and steering
wheel locked the brake peddle was hard to get the
truck to stop the truck would start and then die

everything you describe is the sure sign the engine died. Need more detail. Check engine light on? Start then die...how long? Runs rough or smooth? exhaust wheases or rumbles? Possible bad gas?

GEN LIGHT means genorator and on a oldie like a 96 it means altonator and that could just be bad.. First thing you should check is your main battery fuse the one that is normaly white 160 amp that connects the battery cables from the fuse box battery and alternator easy fix 2 Phillips screws and replace
