My 96 dodge ram 1500 starts fine but when given gas it dies, can this be caused by lack of antifreeze

of course...you have to have anti-freeze in there if the motor is gonna ever reach operating temperature~ the thermal driven choke is probably malfuntioning..._"the Heat riser" ~

NO!!! it can not! it is fuel injection it has no thermal driven choke! you have a fuel issue maybe air idle control or throttle positioning sensor... judge please stop giving answers about things you have NO CLUE about you cause more harm then good just another stupid answer ! .Sorry Comer he just does it for points not really caring if he is right or wrong or putting people in harms way or not its about the #. hope this helps
