Transmission wont go into overdrive
My 97 Dodge Ram 1500 sport 4x4 5.9
transmission won't go into overdrive when I got it
in drive and going about 60mph it runs 2 1/2 rpms
is that normal I dont think my overdrive is kicking
Right, sounds like the overdrive is not working. Could be something electrical. Just go to a transmission shop for proper diagnosis.
Check to see if you're tow button is pushed in. I don't know where it is on the Ram but it will probably be on the shifter. This keeps it in 3rd for towing. Take a look.
I tried seeing if my overdrive button works while going down the road and it do anything going down the road at 50-60 mph I'm wondering if it's something to do with the transmission not working like it should. Yes I got tranny fluid in it when I bought this truck awhile back it was sitting for at least 3 years the guy who I bought it from said the transmission was stuck in low gear come to find out it was the transfer case the was stuck in low so any ideas
