my truck starts most of time but at times it wont crank at all but has a click sound. After it sets for awhile it starts. What wrong with it ? Help please

2 things I can think of, 1) being the starter is probably worn out, lot of resistance when it gets hot, 2) have your battery checked, connections clean, alternator working. Simple courtesy tests.
