Battery drain. Multimeter reads 20ma

Asked by Mar 04, 2019 at 06:07 PM about the 1999 Dodge RAM 3500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

99' ram 3500

2 New batteries

multimeter set to 200m reads .2 on disconnected + lead to + terminal -- and -
- .2 on disconnected - lead to - terminal.

if its normal to draw 20ma steady why do my new batteries keep dying after
4 days?  If they are not draining more than at 20ma how can they be going
dead?

Found out how! When truck was outside i had been leaving key in ignition. When the key feels like it's in neutral it actually isn't. Once I brought truck into my shop I took key out for some reason and didn't get any draws. However I finally connected the two and tried the multi with key in the "neutral" position.. alas 5 on multi and hence my battery drain.
