The front differential that is mounted to the engine block, I need to replace it and I am wondering if the engine has to come out or is there another way it can be done?

it would be easier to take the engine out than drop the subframe and risk breaking the sway bar end links but there are still mount bolts on the subframe

There is no sub frame, the fame is all welded underneath and is notrremovable. The shaft in the differential is about 18"into the oil pan area. I was also thinking about taking out the oil pan but not sure if there is enough room
