my buick will start but wount stay runing

it is a 05 buick  century 3.1 is geting gas and fire but will not stay runing why do i not hear
the injectors clicking

My son had similar problem with his Pontiac Sunfire, it had been running ok and just wouldn't start when it had beensitting a few hours and we even had to tow it, cause didnt know why it wouldnt stay running. We replaced fuel filter, not the answer, still wouldn't stay running, then sprayed some carburetor cleaner in the carburetor and it's been running ever since.
