Audi A4 Timing belt repalcement question

Asked by mdschneids Oct 08, 2015 at 06:31 PM about the 2006 Audi A4

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet with 69,000 miles.  The recommended 75,000 mile maintenance says to replace the timing belt, yet the service department at 2 Audi dealerships are recommending changing it at 85,000 or 110,000 miles.  Any advice??

you bet..if its your baby...change it now...or wait for 110-125 thousand miles... the key question/ answer here is do you believe in preventive maintenance...

timing belt is normaly done at 90,000km Also the thermostate, water pump, tensionsers and pulleys at the same time.

I would say do the timing, thermostat, water pump, tensioners and pulleys at 75k. I waited for the 110k as recommended by the dealer and the last 10-15k of miles leading up to it the car was running a little rough.
