How do I diagnose my starter problem?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I turn the ignition over and my truck makes a horrible grinding sound. If I persist it starts eventually. It
usually takes three to five tries for the truck to start. However, sometimes it will start on the first try
without any grinding. The starter was recently replaced.

The starter solenoid is not throwing the gear into the flywheel. It could be misaligned. The flywheel could be worn. The solenoid action could be sticking. --- Can't really tell without removing the starter and checking everything out.
loose and no ground because of it
