why my 1996 f150 4.9 straight 6 won't crank or start after I put in a new starter and solenoid

Make sure the battery connections are good along with the battery. Check to see you have the small wires on the starter solenoid on correctly, there is a starter solenoid on the fender well also that may be bad. If this is the solenoid you replaced again make sure the small wires are on the right terminals.
