Isn't okay to use 10w30 on a 1998 ford pick up v8

You can use it but, 5w20 was recommended so I would stick to that. How many miles on this vehicle? Does it consume oil?

That is a little heaver than recommended, but if it is a high mileage engine it won't hurt it at all, it might give it just a little bit more oil pressure.
