Is a 2003 F 150 5.4 engine interchangeable with a 2005?

Asked by Bgbdwlf Nov 14, 2016 at 09:45 AM about the 2005 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My engine on my 2005 needs to be replaced.  I found an 03.  Just trying to
figure out if I can use it or not.

The 2003 engine would have 2 valves per cylinder but the 2005 has 3 valves per cylinder. I would recommend going with a correct engine. Check out the crate engines that Ford sells.
