i,m having troubles on figuring out how to time my 1987 honda civic 1.5 liter engine

Hi lulu79, Remove the spark plug from the #1 cylinder. Place a your finger in the spark plug hole. With a 1/2 inch ratchet and socket hand turn your crankshaft until the piston pops your finger out of the hole. That is called Top Dead Center (TDC). Mark your crank pulley where it aligns with the arrow on your timing marks. Check your shop manual because some timing is set 10 degrees Before Top Dead Center (BTDC) or After Top Dead Center (ATDC). Replace the spark plug, loosen the distributor shaft bolt slightly, hook-up your timimng light, start your engine and turn the distributor shaft until your timing is correct. Turn off your engine, mark your shaft with the engine block and tighten everything up. Hope this helps!

I have a question,have do you loosen the distributor on a the si..is the bolt on the inside? I can't find one on the outside..thanks
