Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 1977 ford f-250 7.2 460 v8. 13 months ago. 96000 og miles. In December I had the engine rebuilt by good rebuild shop. New radiator and brake job as well.Since then I only drove in slow traffic rarely going above 65 mph. The last two months I leave at a different time and now go faster. Since then the truck has been backfiring,  stalling and shutting off, although it starts right up. Mimics that of running out of gas although both tanks are full and pump draws from them.I smell gas too before cut off. I've had carb rebuild by specialist shop but problem persist.
Any ideas?
