did valve cover gaskets typically go out on the 5.0's in 1989?

Asked by TryMe Jan 17, 2007 at 09:53 PM about the 1989 Ford F-150

Question type: General

This truck that im looking at buying has only 68000 miles on it but is leaking out a quart every 1000 miles or so. Im under the impression that the valve cover gasket is to blame but that seems like a lot of oil for that gasket...unless its like not there at all:)I was just wondering if there was a recall on those at all and also anything else that i should watch for on this pick-up truck.  Thank your much for your time.
